Who is Vam Sport ?

Vam Sport, Canoe & Kayak Service was founded on 28/9/1983.
Vam represents Vanleeuwe Marc, and had interests in water already since his birth and never got rid of them. His first kayak experience was at the age of 8 with a succeeded crossing of a lake with a pigs drinkstall. In 1962 he became belgian champion in men's eight rowing and military champion in the skiff. As a member of the Sport Nautique Brugge, Münchener Ruderverrein v. 1880 and Osnabrück he gained many international victories in rowing.

He only started kayaking in the seventies, but more on a recreational level than competitive, with a preferences to sea kayak. With a couple of friends, he founded Deinse Kajak Club, where he became president and untill now still functions as member of the board. With this club, he exercised all facets of the kayak - and canoesport and participated in numerous manifestations, nationally and internationally.

As representative in sporting goods he learned, via international trade markets, the commercial side of kayaking and started a store with about 4 kayaks in a garage. Visiting all recreational kayaktrips with a caravan used as store, he built thee larger part of his clientbase. Soon, the garage became to small and a building was rented to be able to supply accessories like life jackets, cags and neoprene suits and even make our own brand of kayak clothing . 10 years ago, the building was demolished in favor of new luxurious flats and we started looking for a new location. At that point, an excellent opportunity came along to buy a decent house for a good price, with enough land to construct extra storage facility. We are still located there.

During the on going search for the latest and finest on the market for kayaking and canoeing, we established great relationships with companies troughout the world enabling us to offer the finest and newest products to our customers.

At this point, we are the store in Belgium with the largest product base having more than 100 canoes and kayaks in stock.

By means of mouth to mouth advertising, trade markets and our customer service, he have established an important clientbase in Belgium and beyond, reaching every part of the world. Amongst them are sporting clubs, public institutions like BLOSO, ADEPS, Aminal, the military, provincial domains, urban services, universities, amusement parks, outdoor organisations, rental companies and many consumers.
